Back To Kenya
Views and Vistas
Kenya offers you miles and miles of clean palm-fringed beaches,
with islands and towns dotting the coastline. Along the coast
you will find many reminders of the past history of the country
- a mix of the African, the Arabic and European influences.
The romantic coastal area of Kenya has a history stretching
back over 1,000 years. It is from these shores that the Swahili
language spread across the continent of Africa. The 480 kilometre-coastline
stretches from Lamu up in the north to Shimoni in the south
and adjacent to the Pemba Channel, defining the border between
Kenya and Tanzania. A spectacular coral reef runs uninterrupted
along the palm-fringed coastline. The waters below teem with
marine life while up above a huge diversity of birdlife occupies
the mangrove forests or overhanging cliffs.
Activities
Spending time along the Kenyan Coast is the ideal way to kick
off your stress and worries and live life for pure luxury
and fun. You can sunbathe, scuba-dive, take a big game fishing
expedition. You can also lie back and let the wind drive you
to your destination on an Arab dhow. Of course, you can make
trips to Mombasa, or join a safari to discover the true traditions
and cultures of the Kenyan tribal people.
