Introduction
This safari is designed to acquaint the student with mysterious Africa, specifically Kenya; its people, culture, geography, flora and fauna. And best of all, the acquisition of this knowledge will be combined with fun, wonder and awe.
We start first with your vehicle; a modern seven individual passenger seat minibus with the famous pop-up roof for maximum game viewing. They are roomy and comfortable! Each vehicle is driven by a highly trained driver-naturalist/guide.
You begin your adventure with mountain climbing up mighty Mt. Kenya after a trek through a rainforest, then a visit to one million pink flamingos followed by a drive across the 3000-mile long Great Rift Valley and then on to the incredible Masai Mara, home to 3 million animals! You will learn much of the flora and fauna of Africa and will see the Maasai, how they live, work, play and survive. There is much more but the thrill of seeing the “circle of life” as it existed hundreds of thousands years ago will remain with you always.

Dinner and overnight.

Day Five - LAKE NAKURU / MASAI MARA
This morning it is off to the splendid Masai Mara National Reserve, which offers a stunning variety of animals. The reason is that this hilly region is both humid and fertile, and is crossed by the rivers Mara and Telek, which flow all year and are full of crocodiles and hippos. The banks of the rivers are covered in thick forest, which gradually makes way for bush and grassland. The abundance of water and excellent availability of food are the reasons why the Masai Mara, which in fact is a continuation of the Tanzanian Serengeti National Park, has the greatest population of wild animals in the whole of Africa. You will see huge herds of Wildebeest and Zebras. Predators such as Hyenas, Jackals, Leopards and Lions closely follow these herds. There is no place where more of these predators may be seen than in Masai Mara. Gigantic herds of over 200 buffaloes can also be observed. Plenty of food is available for elephants, giraffes, and the many species of antelopes and gazelles all of which can be observed in their natural habitat.
Arival will be timed for a hearty lunch followed by a nature walk accompanied by rangers. Then your first game drive in this wonder of nature. You will see animals, oh will you see animals!
|
Day Six
Want to see lots more animals and birds? Let’s start with the early morning game drive when the antelopes and wildebeest are awakening and the lions and leopards are hungry. You’ll be hungry when you return for that big hearty breakfast.
Duing the morning we visit the Maasai! You will see how they live, work and play. Included is a school visit where you will get to interact with the Maasai children. Perhaps you could help them with their English and algebra?
Enjoy picnic lunches under a shady tree before going out for an evening game drive. Enjoy a great meal then sit around the campfire till it’s time for a good night’s sleep.
|
